UPCOMING EVENTS

In 2009, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) passed regulations prohibiting all open burning, including household trash and yard waste (leaves included). This open burn ban expands on the previous prohibition of burning household trash in wood stoves, fire places, and other outdoor wood burning devices.  For more information click here or call Cortland SWCD at (607)756-5991. 

It’s that time of year again... for the Cortland County SWCD’s annual Conservation Tree and Shrub Sale.  There are limited quantities so place your orders early.  Orders and payment must be received by April 2nd, 2012.  Pickup will be at the Cortland County Fairgrounds (same as usual) and is scheduled for Thursday April 19th, 2012 from 9am-5pm.   Order form and plant information can be found here.

MISSION STATEMENT: 

It is the mission of the Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to assist citizens and units of the local government in making sound decisions on the management of soils, water, and related natural resources based on their properties.

SWCD will further assist in the implementation of decisions by seeking adn coordinating technical and financial assistance from federal, state, and local governments, and private sources.
