POND STOCKING

Catfish/Grass Carp Available for Ponds

Catfish/Grass Carp can now be ordered through Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) for private pond stocking.  Orders must be received by Thursday, May 12, 2011.  Delivery will be made to the SWCD office parking lot at the New York State Grange Building, 100 Grange Place, Cortland, on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 1:30 p.m

In order to purchase grass carp, a permit must be approved through the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the application can be found here.

Don’t forget to apply for your New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Stocking permit which is required to stock fish in any water body.  The permit can be found here and should be returned to the NYSDEC and not the Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).  Another possibility to consider for your pond is the Farm Fish Pond License which can be found here and returned to the NYSDEC and not the SWCD.  Information regarding the specifics of what the Permit entails can be found by visiting the NYSDEC website at http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/25013.html.
