POND STOCKING

Channel Catfish (6-8 inches), a new size of Largemouth Bass (4-6 inches), fathead minnows (now sold by hundred not pound), Grass Carp and floating fish food can now be ordered through the Cortland County SWCD. 

Orders must be received by Wednesday, July 7, 2010.  Delivery will be made to the SWCD office parking lot at the New York State Grange Building, 100 Grange Place, Cortland, on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 10 a.m.  This fall, the SWCD will be offering Brown Trout and Brook Trout for pond stocking.  Order forms, permit information, instructions for pick-up and information on other SWCD programs are available here, or can be obtained by calling (607)756-5991, or by writing to: SWCD, 100 Grange Place, Rm. 202, Cortland, NY 13045. 

In order to purchase grass carp, a permit must be approved through the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the application can be found here.

Don’t forget to apply for your New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Stocking permit which is required to stock fish in any water body.  The permit can be found here and should be returned to the NYSDEC and not the Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).  Another possibility to consider for your pond is the Farm Fish Pond License which can be found here and returned to the NYSDEC and not the SWCD.  Information regarding the specifics of what the Permit entails can be found by visiting the NYSDEC website at http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/25013.html.
